PRIME MINISTER Ana Brnabić stated today that it has been shown that covid passes motivate young people the most to be vaccinated and that since the introduction of this measure, the average number of immunized people on a daily basis in the age group between 18 and 30 has doubled.

Brnabić said that before the introduction of kovid passes, about 600 young people between the ages of 18 and 30 were vaccinated daily, and that after the passes were introduced in catering facilities from 10 pm, that number increased to 1,500 vaccinated.
– After moving that measure to 20 hours, the number of vaccinated increased to 2,000 per day. On average, 1,200 young people are vaccinated daily, which is not enough and so we cannot reach 80 percent of those immunized – said the Prime Minister at the panel “Youth Immunization”, organized by the Faculty of Organizational Sciences, the Student Parliament of the University of Belgrade and the Student Conference of the University of Serbia.
The Prime Minister said that in Serbia, 57 percent of the adult population, ie 3,074,510 citizens, were vaccinated against the corona virus, among whom were mostly the elderly, who, as she pointed out, showed great responsibility.
She added that 54.4 percent were revaccinated, while 24.3 percent of adult citizens received the third dose.
– I think that is exactly why the numbers of infected people are falling and that we, as a society and the country, have been given a second chance to end the pandemic and be completely safe due to the booster dose – the Prime Minister pointed out.
Brnabić stated that only 27.5 percent of those in the age group between 18 and 30 are vaccinated, emphasizing that now everything is up to the young, and that students should be an example and start a mass immunization of young people.
– Young people say that they want to see how others, their grandparents, will pass, and then they will be vaccinated. How we came to that is more fundamental than whether we will be vaccinated, because it depends on what our country and society will look like in the future, and that is why I think that students should take it now – said the Prime Minister.
She pointed out that societies that have clear individual responsibility, civic solidarity and empathy and that are well organized and have vaccines win in the fight against the pandemic, which, as she pointed out, is a huge advantage of Serbia.
– We should strive to be a society where young people will always be on the front line and to protect the elderly, parents, the weak, the chronically ill – stated Brnabić.
She added that only four local governments in Serbia have more than 50 percent vaccinated in the population aged 18 to 30 – the municipality of Stari grad 59.4 percent, Presevo 57.3 percent, Vracar 56.5 percent and Savski venac 53.4 percent.
The Prime Minister said that the results in the age group of 12 to 17 were even worse and that only 3.13 percent were vaccinated, as well as that all local governments in Serbia were below 20 percent, and that the Belgrade municipality of Stari had the most vaccinated in that group. city with 16.9 percent immunized.
She pointed out that the situation in other European countries is dramatically different, citing the example of Iceland, Portugal and Ireland, where more than 80 percent of those vaccinated are in the 18-24 age group.
– We have to turn it around and whatever reasons there are for skepticism, we have to talk about it, we have fantastic experts who can answer questions and dilemmas about vaccination – Brnabić emphasized.
