THE DEADLINE for the use of replacement vouchers has been extended to December 31, 2022, which means that citizens who have not used their travels, can get their money back only from January 1, 2023!
This decision was made at yesterday’s session of the Government of Serbia.
By the way, according to the previous, old Decree, travel agencies were obliged to return money to passengers at the beginning of next year.
The Minister of Tourism, Tatjana Matić, said that the Decree on amending the Decree on the offer of a replacement trip for a tourist trip that was canceled or not realized due to a pandemic was adopted at the session.
– The new situation, which is caused by the coronary virus pandemic, results in mass cancellations of tourist trips, which were partially or fully paid by March 15, 2020, regardless of the period of realization – Matic pointed out.
– In the interest of the passengers themselves, and in order to protect the tourism industry and the survival of numerous agencies and thousands of jobs, the relevant ministry has proposed an amendment to the decree.
The amendment stipulates that replacement travel, defined by the said regulation, can be used by the passenger no later than December 31, 2022. If, however, he wants the money back, the agency will be obliged to return it to him by February 1, 2023 at the latest.
Many travelers did not use the vouchers this year, because some agencies offered inadequate replacements, as well as much worse accommodation than the one paid, for the same money.
