MPs of the Serbian List did not attend today’s session of the Assembly in Pristina, so changes to the law on public holidays were not considered.
Namely, the electronic media in the Albanian language in Kosovo and Metohija transmitted the statement of the Speaker of the Parliament Glauk Konjufca that the SL deputies boycotted the session, and the decision requires the consent of at least 11 votes of deputies from minority communities.
According to “Novosti”, the deputies of the Serbian List did not want to enter the hall during this item on the agenda, because the Kosovo Assembly in the previous convocation rejected the proposal of Igor Simic, vice president of the assembly and vice president of SL, to include Serbian national holidays in the bill. like Vidovdan and Sretenje.
Despite the fact that marking Serbian holidays in Kosovo and Metohija is very risky, Serbs do not give up on celebrating Vidovdan. There are always fears of attacks by more radical Albanians, but this year the incident in Gazimestan was caused by members of the Kosovo police. They arrested a young man from Podgorica, Risto Jovanović, who tried to protect the nun from police harassment.
As Fatmir Seholi, a political analyst from Pristina, told us, the list of Albanian holidays celebrated in Kosovo, although not yet confirmed in the assembly, includes February 17 – the date of unilaterally declared independence, the day of the Albanian flag – November 28, the day of the constitution. – April 9.
