A two-day-old BABY passed away this morning in the hospital in Leskovac, confirmed Dr. Nebojsa Dimitrijevic, the director of the General Hospital in Leskovac.
Dr. Dimitrijević said that the baby was born two days ago at term, that it weighed 3,050 kg and 46 centimeters, that the pregnancy was normal, and the birth by caesarean section.
– The baby was reanimated at birth and transferred, as my doctors just told me, to intensive care. The laboratory was quiet, and the baby was on some small oxygen, in an incubator. She got a lower temperature, but that is not uncommon in a newborn and he was given antibiotic therapy. The child was stable, nothing indicated a more severe clinical picture. The mother was negative on the antigen test, as was the baby. The newborn was stable until this morning at seven o’clock, when his saturation dropped sharply and they had to intubate him. He was placed on the highest flow of oxygen, all the best doctors from the hospital were there, transport to Nis was prepared, but unfortunately, a cardiac arrest followed and the baby passed away at 10:15 this morning. Resuscitation failed, doctors cried. An autopsy has been ordered that will show the exact cause of death – says Dr. Dimitrijevic, who does not know what gender the baby is.
