The issue of Linglong workers is part of a campaign that has been going on for months against Chinese investments, but the inspection was sent to the company’s plant, said Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić during the opening of the Boysen factory in Subotica.
He stated that the campaign against the Chinese company Linglong has been going on for months.
– We have been looking for three and a half years all over the world to find an investor for the Smederevo Ironworks. She didn’t work. We lost every month because of that company. We asked the Chinese president for an investment and now people work there and have a decent income. There is a need to prosecute companies that helped us a lot – he stated.
He pointed out that an inspection was sent to a Chinese company.
– What do you want us to destroy the $ 900 million investment? If the inspection finds that the conditions are bad, it will create new conditions, there is no need for a chase. If the Vietnamese need to be helped, we will help, but we will not force investors – he stated.
Earlier today, Chinese Ambassador to Serbia Chen Bo stated that the embassy requires all Chinese companies to abide by the laws and regulations of Serbia and to treat the workers in accordance with the agreement.
Answering the question about the Linglong case, Chen Bo said that everyone had seen media reports on working conditions and that she hoped that everyone would read what the Chinese company also points out in that regard.
– You may have noticed that the competent departments in Serbia do not think that there are any theses of certain media in the Chinese company – said Chen Bo. She added that media coverage was welcome, but that “false information is never acceptable”.
The Chinese ambassador pointed out that all these years, Chinese companies have made efforts to contribute to the economic development of Serbia.
