MARIJA (22) and Lazar (16) Milošević, whose entire family was taken away by the crown in a month, were in the Belgrade City Assembly with the mayor of Zemun, director of the Center for Social Work Zorica Pavlović, and were received by the deputy mayor of Belgrade Goran Vesić and the director of the Foundation for Youth and Children of Belgrade, Tanja Popović.
The Deputy Mayor of Belgrade, Goran Vesić, told Kurir that they discussed at the meeting how they could help and what the City could do for them.
– Lazar and Marija received a one-time help from the City, which is given in such cases, and it amounts to 80 percent of the average personal income, somewhere around 60,000 dinars. In addition, a procedure was initiated for placing a younger brother under the care of an older sister who is an adult. There are several dozen such cases in the city and they have been provided with social services. This happens when children are left without parents and are entitled to a monthly allowance from the city – says Vesić and adds:
– Marija informed us that she had received a job offer in the Emergency Room. Her father also worked there. She will work in the Emergency Room and will study at the same time. Lazar received a scholarship from the Zemun High School Foundation, which he attends, and we agreed that the Foundation for Children and Youth of Belgrade will provide assistance, and that is the renovation of the house that is necessary in order to continue living.
He also states that in the next period, the Foundation for Youth and Children of Belgrade will launch an action for donors and in that way help this family.
– It was also agreed that they have contact with the mayor so that they can address absolutely everything they need to him, but also to the Youth Foundation in order to help them. Otherwise, the municipality provided one-time assistance for the funeral. In this way, we have shown that we take care of when some of our fellow citizens find themselves in such a difficult situation – said Vesić.
According to him, Lazar and Marija have relatives with whom they communicate and who also take care of them, but they have completely lost their closest family.
– The Foundation for Children and Youth of Belgrade was founded last week and the basic task of that foundation is to help those families who receive social assistance, and it is not enough for them to be able to live well. These are, for example, such families and the situation in which Lazar and Marija found themselves, as well as families with single parents with several children. In that way, we provide scholarships for children, food, school supplies, clothes, going on vacation and everything else that children should have in order to live normally like other children – says Vesić and adds that helping Lazar and Marija is the first action of the Children’s Foundation and the youth of Belgrade and that this is an opportunity for everyone else to see why the city founded such a Foundation because in this way they want every child in Belgrade to have a normal and happy childhood and to show everyone that the city has not forgotten them no matter how hard it is for them not to alone.
Let us remind you, in just a month, the crown took away the entire family from Mary and Lazarus. The two Milosevics were left without everything, family and love, overnight, but also without regular income and basic living conditions.
