From Monday, November 22, in all primary and secondary schools in the territory of the Republic of Serbia, students will attend classes according to the first direct model, which means that all students will be in the class, said Assistant Minister for Preschool and Primary Education Milan Pasic. There is no decision on the holiday yet, says Pasic.
If the winter break starts earlier, it is quite certain that the children will cope best. Even for teachers who need to conclude grades earlier, that, they say, is not too much of a problem. The only concern for parents is what to do with younger children who are still in primary school. Who will look after them while their parents are at work? The school team and the Crisis Staff will decide when the winter break will begin and whether it will be extended.
Assistant Minister for Preschool and Primary Education Milan Pasic said, as a guest on the RTS morning program, that the 15th session of the School Team was held yesterday, where it was determined that there was a gradual improvement of the epidemiological situation and an accelerated reduction of positive cases. encouraging.
– Unfortunately, the general rate of positives is still high. I believe that the measures taken so far have yielded results. From Monday, November 22, in all primary and secondary schools in the territory of the Republic of Serbia, students will attend classes according to the first, direct model, which means that everyone in the class is together. Except for schools where classes are divided, so they go to the combined model or if they accidentally switched to online – said Pasic.
According to him, everyone should be praised, since they realized that the measures must be respected.
He adds that an inspection is being sent to check how the measures are being respected and emphasizes that the school is not a place of virus transmission, but that the measures must be respected.
Speaking about the holiday, he says that there was no word yet on whether the holiday will be extended or postponed, that will be another topic at the Crisis Staff.
He stated that a small number of children are positive children in schools, that is about 0.2 percent of the total population.
– We had 11 departments that went online, 88 departments were divided into groups A and B and six of those divided went online. Those are small percentages – says Pasic, adding that the holiday had some effects.
The report of the Institute for the Evaluation of the Quality of Education shows that more than 43 percent of eighth grade students were excellent, every seventh with an average grade of 5.
Pasic said that the education reform started in 2017 and emphasized that due to the pandemic, the material was reduced, but the teachers found models for how to evaluate students.
When it comes to the admission of young high school graduates, he says that the questions were at the same level as in previous years, and the novelty is that the form of an open question turned into questions with offered answers.
– At the basic level, the students showed the highest knowledge. We have some parameters, 80 students need to master the basic level, 84% of students have mastered it. Which means that our students have acquired knowledge – Pasic pointed out.
He stated that there are improvements in students who attend classes in the languages of national minorities.
When we look at the regions, it is interesting that in the first five, there are the same districts for mathematics and mother tongue – Peja, Rasina, Kosovska Mitrovica, the city of Belgrade and Sumadija.
