On November 25, the President of Russia, Vladimir Putin, will receive the President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, in Sochi, at the residence “Bočarov ručej”. It was originally mentioned that the heads of the two countries would meet in Moscow, but Putin’s program was so organized that a guest from Serbia was invited to arrive in Sochi.
Vucic is scheduled to arrive on November 24, and to have a meeting with the Russian leader the next day. The President of Serbia said that he was preparing very seriously for this meeting, during which the central topic would be the price of gas for next year. Vučić will ask the Russian president not to change the amount, despite the great fluctuations and the growth of the prices of “blue fuel” on the world stock exchanges. As he said, the best variant for Serbia must be made, which is not easy at all, but he hopes for the best price in Europe.
Apart from the energy crisis, Vučić and Putin will also discuss the situation in Kosovo and Metohija, in the region and the world. After this meeting, and due to the measures taken against the corona virus, a joint press conference is not planned. By the way, all Putin’s guests, for preventive reasons, pass the test.
The residence “Bocharov ručej” (“Bočarov potočić”), where Putin and Vučić will talk, is used by the Russian president when he has a series of important meetings. These days, he talked there with the Russian military leadership and leading constructors of modern weapons, as well as with many leading world politicians. President Vučić has already met with Putin in Sochi, and before him, Tomislav Nikolić and Vojislav Kostunica were also there.
The construction of “Bocarov rucej” began to be built in 1934, on the initiative of the then People’s Commissar for the Army and Navy, Kliment Voroshilov. During the reign of Nikita Khrushchev, the villa was reconstructed. Soviet leaders Khrushchev and Leonid Brezhnev used to rest there, and Yugoslav President Josip Broz Tito spent one summer as a guest. The last meeting between Putin and US President Bush Jr. was in that villa, on April 6, 2008. German Chancellor Angela Merkel also met with Russian presidents there. Putin’s guest in this representative facility was also Turkish President Erdogan.
It is interesting that it was in the villa “Bocharov Ruchej” that the Belarusian President Lukashenko reached an agreement with Putin that the price of gas for 2022 would remain unchanged.
FOLLOWS THE 19TH MEETING
I will now meet with President Putin for the 19th time. Imagine, he has found time for the president or prime minister of Serbia 19 times in the last seven years. We are infinitely grateful for how much energy he invested in relations with Serbia – said Vučić.
