There are several topics on the table that will be discussed – the extension of the winter break, the covid pass to be valid for 24 hours, but also to be extended to other facilities: gyms, beauty salons. Doctors will also demand that concerts in the squares for the New Year be banned.
The final consultations of the medical part of the Crisis Staff with the Prime Minister Ana Brnabić will take place over the weekend.
In the last few days, the number of newly infected with the corona virus has been decreasing. Authorities claim that the extension of the autumn vacation, but also the introduction of kovid passes after 8 pm in catering facilities gave results. The situation is better, but they note that there must be no relaxation, but a stronger vaccination campaign must be launched.
Epidemiologist and member of the Crisis Staff prof. Branislav Tiodorović said that they were especially worried about the upcoming Christmas and New Year holidays, and that the medical part of the Crisis Staff would ask for the winter break to be extended.

– One of the options is for the winter holiday to start for everyone (Vojvodina and the rest of Serbia) on December 15, and the other is for the holiday to be before Catholic Christmas on December 23. Traditionally, Serbian citizens working in Western Europe come on holiday before Catholic Christmas. That is why it is important that we cover all holidays with the holidays – said Dr. Tiodorović earlier.
In addition, doctors will demand that New Year’s concerts in the squares be banned, because that represents an epidemiological risk. They note that it is difficult to control the number of passes for outdoor concerts. By the way, the medical part of the Crisis Staff has been asking for a restriction on gatherings for a long time and for the allowed number of people in one place to be reduced from 500 to five.
Kovid passes 24 hours, extension to other facilities?
The introduction of covid passes in catering facilities after 8 pm gave the desired results – vaccination was increased, especially among young people. However, that is still not enough to achieve collective immunity.
Before the introduction of covid passes in the age group of 18 to 30, on average, about 600 young people were vaccinated daily. When they were introduced in catering facilities after 10 pm, the number of vaccinations increased to 1,500 per day, and with the new extension of the validity of covid passes, after 2 pm, about 2,000 citizens are vaccinated.
From this summer, the medical part of the Crisis Staff is asking for the introduction of 24-hour passes, and that, in addition to catering facilities and bookmakers, there will also be gyms, beauty salons, theaters, cinemas, concerts, matches …
– That’s what he’s thinking. In the basic idea, Kovid passes were not intended only for catering facilities, but also in all places where infection can occur. The important thing is that we still don’t have a 24-hour pass. This is the first and basic request, and all this would go along with it – said the epidemiologist and member of the Crisis Staff, Dr. Predrag Kon.
Prime Minister Ana Brnabić also says that the introduction of kovid passes in other facilities is an option “which is always on the table”, but that it is important to ensure the implementation of control over compliance with these measures.
At the panel “Youth Immunization” held at the Faculty of Political Sciences, she said that she was not in favor of introducing “marketing measures”, which cannot be implemented and controlled later.
– There is a possibility that we will further expand the scope of passes, but so that we can implement it, to sanction those who violate this measure. That is the reason why we are going gradually – the Prime Minister explained.
She reiterated that the medical part of the Crisis Staff continues to advocate that covid passes be introduced 24 hours a day in all closed spaces, except in shops, but that it is important how to control the observance of that measure.
