The Lord does not call us, brothers and sisters, to first set the goal of our lives as a change of circumstances, a change in the external world in which we live, but a rethinking of the internal order, and that is called repentance, said Patriarch Porphyry.

– Repentance is not as a psychological superficial self-condemnation, but as rethinking, re-creating the value system we live by. The Gospel is not given to us to understand, but to change our minds through the Gospel as a mirror, as a system of values. And that is why we have been repeating lately that it is important to know what the evangelical value system is and to know that many of us will want us to conform to a non-evangelical value system, that they will want us to have an ideological opinion on every issue. that it be opposite or the same, similar or different in relation to other opinions. If we did that, then we would be just one of the ideological systems.
– We will have something to say on every issue, but only what we say will be correct when it springs from the word of Christ, when it springs from the Gospel, when we listen to the apostles of Christ and the word of God, when we listen to the Church of Christ. That listening and obedience is not obedience, but an expression of the deepest freedom that leads us to liberation from the tyranny of the wicked Satan, the demonic tyranny. That means renunciation of one’s will, of a passionate will, of freedom that is only an illusion, and a call to inner freedom that overcomes sin, egoism, pride and self-love, awakens mercy in us and builds a man like Lazarus – the patriarch pointed out.
