WHEN he graduated from a private university in Belgrade, David Radovanović (27) from Svilajnac decided to look for happiness in America. However, this young man is honest, he could not find himself “through Bare”, neither in business nor in private. He says that he did not like the fact that Americans only work and have no life …

He soon returned to his native Svilajnac, where he began to realize his first business idea, which, he admits, he came up with while he was in the United States.
– In one market, I saw that blueberries sell well, so three years ago I planted 2,700 seedlings per hectare. This year was the first harvest, which I am very satisfied with. I collected 2.5 tons, which is more than good, because the average per kilogram of a plant is excellent, and each of them gave me a kilogram. I was the first in the municipality to plant them, and now another Svilajnac resident has planted them on 20 acres – says Radovanović, and adds that blueberries are also selling well in Serbia.
He works on the plantation with his mother Svetlana and sisters Melena and Marija, who help when they come from Belgrade. However, as winter comes, and this hard-working young man cannot sit idle, he started producing microbes a month ago. He got the idea again from the Americans, because he follows their studies. For now, he grows grain, from which juice is made, as well as sunflower, lentils and spinach, which are great for salads.
– The production process is very short. From the moment of planting, the microbial is ready for use after 10 to 15 days. Sunflower is harvested after only a week. Such a young plant has 40 times more vitamins and minerals than a large plant. It also contains antioxidants, which cleanse our body. It is bought by young people and those who want to strengthen immunity – says our interlocutor and adds that it is still in the phase of market research, so it is made to order.

STATE SUBSIDIES
RADOVANOVIĆ is among the youngest farmers in the municipality and one of the few to run an agricultural farm. Thanks to that, he received state subsidies for the purchase of tractors and blueberry seedlings, and he also applied for an irrigation system. He also bought a mower and a milling machine, and he received a return of 70% from the Municipality.
