The PROGRESSIVES will most likely elect the president as well as the top leadership at the assembly scheduled for November 27. About 4,000 delegates will give their verdict, and local committees have begun proposing that Aleksandar Vucic lead the party for the next term.
The Novi Sad Progressives withdrew their leg and delegated Vučić the day before yesterday, followed by the citizens of Belgrade, and yesterday also the branches from the cities of Kosovo and Metohija.
According to the plan, the first part of the session will be the working part where the leadership will be elected, but also to discuss the situation in Serbia, and then there will be a ceremony with the announcement of the voting results and conclusions.
SNS Presidency member Goran Vesić said that it was completely normal and natural that “the Belgrade Board of the SNS unanimously made the decision to propose Vučić as the party president”:
– I knew it would happen, because I know what people in the party think. And who else? Vučić is the president of the party, he is the most deserving for the successes that the party has, he is the personification of the policy of our party and the economic successes of Serbia. He said several times that he may be a little tired, which I can understand, because he is really in big obligations, but I am sure that he will accept the proposal of the SNS members and that he will remain at the head of the party.
As he pointed out, Vučić and the Government of Serbia stood behind the project of the Belgrade metro, which is 4.6 billion euros, plus 1.3 billion euros for the BG train, and for the new trams:
– That is more than the five-year budget of Belgrade, and the city would not be able to build the subway so quickly on its own without the support of President Vučić. Just as highways would not be built.
According to the words of the progressives from Kosovo and Metohija, “the policy that Vučić set, and then achieved, is a policy of progress, strengthening and development of our entire country, which strengthens the people in Kosovo and Metohija.”
– Without Vučić’s strong leadership, there is no survival of Serbs in Kosovo and Metohija and that is why our decision is a reflection of the will of the entire Serbian people from Kosovo and Metohija to be the best among us – Aleksandar Vučić – at the head of our party.
The mayor of Novi Sad, Miloš Vučević, said that “Vučić is the only one who can lead an uncompromising fight against all those who attack Serbia, but also to come out of it as a winner.”
– We are immodestly asking him to answer within the party those who have turned a deaf ear to both the state and the party, but also to himself. The leadership cries out for justice, for the moment when those who have abused their trust and positions will be held accountable for their actions. During these 10 years spent in state functions, Vučić has done so much that he will write some future history books about the results of what he has done on hundreds of pages – Vučević explained.
