By the decision of the Great National Assembly, which met on November 25 in Novi Sad, three areas joined the Kingdom of Serbia after the end of the First World War. Srem did that the day before in Ruma.
With the formation of the new state of the Kingdom of Serbs, Croats and Slovenes and the later constitution of nine banovinas, Novi Sad became the administrative center of the Danube banovina, a symbol of which is the construction of a monumental ban building.
In honor of this, a memorial room was built in the Ban building.
