On Tuesday, the inspectors of social protection ordered the closure of the illegal home for the elderly in Zrenjanin in Čarnojevićeva Street 9a. The owner, Aleksandar Lazić, did not have a work permit, but in addition, he had 10 tenants in the building at the stated address.
As they emphasized in the Provincial Secretariat for Social Protection, the measures to prevent the entry and spread of the kovid epidemic were not respected in the home, and criminal liability was initiated against the owner Lazić.
Last week, an order was issued for the urgent eviction of 10 found users at the accommodation. As this was not done and after that eight tenants were found, with the assistance of the police, they were evicted. New accommodation was found for seven, while relatives took over one.
Jasna Erceg, the daughter of one of the tenants who recently passed away in this facility, accuses the owner Lazić of inadequate care and conditions in the home and claims that her mother was not given medical help, even though she received a covid.
– He did not want to call a doctor for four days, and she had a high temperature. It was similar with other users – says our interlocutor. – Four other elderly ladies had a fever all the time, and there is no doctor in the home, nor has the owner called a health institution. Lazic lives, works and sleeps in the home. There are no employees and he is also a caregiver, janitor, doctor, social worker …
The owner of the illegal home told “Novosti” that he received the first tenants during the summer, on the recommendation of friends and relatives. He does not deny that he does not have an official work permit, but he claims that only a few square meters of the newly built entrance, adapted for people in wheelchairs, are in dispute.
– I plan to deal professionally with the care and nursing of the elderly. I have invested a lot in the renovation of the old family house and I already have a capacity for 20 people – says Lazić. – Inspections were, they did their part of the job, now I am waiting and I hope that when the technical problems with paperwork are solved, I will finally get a work permit.
However, his claims are denied by the Ministry of Labor and they say that the owner of an illegal home from Zrenjanin never submitted a request for the issuance of a license for the provision of home accommodation services to adults and the elderly.
Natasa Simonović from Zrenjanin placed her mother Mila Jovanov (82) in this facility in August.
– I had nowhere to go with her, since I work and live alone, so I can’t take care of her and I really don’t have any objections. I am in a panic now, where will I go and what will happen to my mother – says Natasa. – I take her home, because I can’t send her to a home outside Zrenjanin.
Ljiljana Turinski, from Zrenjanin, who currently lives in Pancevo, has a similar problem, and her brother Svetislav is in her home, and he is a treated alcoholic, and he can’t do it alone for an hour.
HELPED FOR 45,000 DINARS
AWARE of the deeds he committed and the consequences he will bear, Aleksandar Lazić says that he wanted to meet, help, accommodate and take care of grandparents who had nowhere to go, and members of their families insisted on receiving them. However, as Jasna Erceg claims, that help cost between 40,000 and 45,000 dinars a month.
