AFTER the announcement of new demographic measures by Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić, Minister of Demography and Family Care Ratko Dmitrović says that the state did not take a loan to provide stimulation to citizens, and the first three measures are 300,000 dinars for the first child, relief for students who decide to become parents , as well as assistance in resolving the housing issue.

– No loan was taken. What needs to be found in the budget has been found. Let’s just see what results these measures will give. This is within the Law on Financial Assistance to the Family, which was passed in 2018. Incentives will be for the first, second, third and fourth child. The measures presented by the president are only one part – Dmitrović pointed out for TV Prva and stated that those measures will be in force until the end of January.
Dmitrović said that it is a complex problem when it comes to demography and stated that it is not just about money. He pointed out that fertility in more developed and rich Norway is 1.6, and in Serbia 1.5.
Speaking about the help in resolving the housing issue, ie 20,000 euros, he stated that he should see with lawyers what it will look like, but he explained that the condition will certainly be that the partners are married.

Minister Dmitrović stated that from January, most things will be known.
– If someone does not want to have a child, it is completely legitimate and money cannot stimulate him. These are serious amounts of money to start with, when the child is raised. I would especially like to draw attention to the measure about students – the possibility for a married couple of 20, 21, 22 years of age to decide to have children, but study. That student received benefits, there are no deadlines, she does not lose a year, that is, she can finish college by the age of 26 (28th if it is a medical school). There is no renewal of the year, which is important – he stated and pointed out that students will be able to agree with the professor when it comes to taking the exam.
Dmitrović referred to the problem with young women when it comes to employment, because employers ask those people if they are married and if they plan to have children, and then in most cases they happen to be deleted from the list of candidates.
The Minister believes that this measure solves this problem.
