ACCORDING to Dusko Jovanovic, Secretary General of the Association of Insurers of Serbia, at the opening of the Fifth Serbian Insurance Days in Arandjelovac, this sector managed to adapt to the pandemic last year, record lower growth, and be even more efficient this year.
– The insurance market will end this year with a growth of about nine percent. We will exceed the limit of one billion euros at the end of the year, and that is extremely important for the insurance industry, but also for Serbia. The premium of one billion euros provides technical reserves of all insurance companies over two billion euros, which can be invested in the development of the insurance industry, but also in strategic state projects.
As Jovanović said, the biggest growth since the beginning of the pandemic is recorded by voluntary health insurance. That, as he said, is not surprising because in the past months, the health system was in the service of the Kovid system.
Since the beginning of the year, a growth of 22% of this type of insurance has been recorded. In addition, there is a growing interest in insurance in the field of agriculture.
The President of the Management Board of UOS, Ivana Soković, emphasized that the results in this activity are above expectations. As she said, apart from the premium of voluntary health insurance, which is higher by 22 percent, the premiums of property insurance against fire increased by ten percent, and other property insurance by 19 percent. Life insurance grew by seven percent.
– In cooperation with the NBS, the Ministry of Finance, the Association of Insurers is working on the preparation of the Amendment to the Law on Compulsory Traffic Insurance and on the project of the National Risk Assessment of Money Laundering and Terrorist Financing – said Soković. – Intensive work is also being done to improve the efficiency of resolving compensation claims in criminal cases, where they have been injured and killed.
