– We continue to make large investments in communal infrastructure and environmental projects. We will build 35 kilometers of sewage infrastructure in the municipality of Knić, which currently has only 1,500 meters of sewage network. Despite having one of the most beautiful lakes in Serbia, this municipality does not have a single wastewater treatment plant. This project will realistically contribute to increasing the quality of people’s lives. For the first time in fifty years, we are launching a project like this, and today we have fifty losers in Belgrade protesting and advocating for some abstract concepts, and we are investing hundreds of millions of euros to keep our nature and our rivers clean – said Minister Momirović. He emphasized that the “Clean Serbia” project was initiated by the President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić.
– We have to implement these projects and build wastewater treatment plants in Knić and in 80 percent of local governments in Serbia in the next four or five years. It is not a political story, there is no place for politicking – we have to clean our country for our children – Minister Momirović emphasized.
The president of the municipality of Knić, Srećko Ilić, emphasized that this is a historic moment for this municipality, because the largest contract for investing in infrastructure in its history was signed.
– On the territory of the municipality of Knić, there is Gružansko Lake, as the largest lake in the central part of Serbia, it supplies the city of Kragujevac and its surroundings with drinking water. The paradox is that in the catchment area of the lake, there was no system for wastewater treatment, and through this investment and project, we will protect Lake Gruž – said Ilić.
On the occasion of the Day of the Municipality of Knić, at the solemn session of the Municipal Assembly in the House of Culture, Minister Tomislav Momirović was presented with the recognition of the Municipality of Knić received by the Ministry of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure for its contribution to the development of this municipality. Within this project, 35 kilometers of sewerage network and 5 wastewater treatment plants will be built, which will include 6,950 inhabitants. The total value of the project in the municipality of Knić is 16,332,074 euros, and the communal infrastructure will be built by the Chinese company China Road and Bridge Corporation (CRBC).
