OTP Bank has joined Mastercard’s Priceless Planet Coalition initiative to plant 100 million trees worldwide in the next five years.
With this cooperation, OTP became the first bank in our country to become a part of this global project (Priceless Planet Coalition), which is one of the indicators of the determination of this financial institution to dedicate itself to green projects and environmental sustainability in the coming period. One of the most important activities within this initiative is the Generator Zero competition of OTP banka, which this year is dedicated to projects that offer solutions for reducing the carbon footprint, and where the company Mastercard is also one of the partners.
“Recognizing the devastating effect of climate change, OTP Bank decided to be the first in our country to join the global initiative Priceless Planet of the Mastercard coalition, by planting one tree for each client who opens a bank account in areas where afforestation is most needed. The bank is joining the international afforestation project of endangered areas of the planet primarily in order to normalize and stop climate change, but also to raise citizens’ awareness of the importance of environmental protection, “said Vuk Kosovac, a member of the Executive Board of OTP Bank.
Every client who opens a new account in OTP bank and takes over his Mastercard becomes a part of the Priceless Planet program, which will plant one tree on his behalf. In this way, awareness of the environment is raised and the consequences of climate change are reduced, and clients are offered the opportunity to invest in the future of the planet.
“Climate change is affecting all of us, and especially the most socially and economically vulnerable groups. We only have a chance to change something if we act together and every day. As a Priceless Planet coalition, our two companies together with our customers are moving towards the same goal, which is a local contribution to achieving a positive impact on reducing carbon dioxide emissions and investing in environmental reconstruction, “said Jelena Ristic, Mastercard Director for Serbia , Montenegro and BiH.
Apart from Serbia, the OTP Group has started to implement its commitment to environmental sustainability and green transition in other countries, and in Hungary it was also the first to respond and join the Priceless Planet Coalition initiative.
