POLITICIAN, honorary president of the SPS and MP Milutin Mrkonjić (79) passed away today in Belgrade at the Institute for Cardiovascular Diseases “Dedinje”.

SPS President and Milutin Mrkonjic’s friend Ivica Dacic also said goodbye to him.
– The biggest of us is gone. Legend of the Socialist Party of Serbia and the whole of Serbia. Honorary President Milutin Mrkonjić, our friend and political father, our Mrka. Thank you for everything, rest in peace – said Dacic.
Mrkonjić was born in Belgrade on May 23, 1942, and graduated in 1971 from the Faculty of Civil Engineering in Belgrade.
After graduating from the faculty, he worked in the Bureau for Studies and Design of Railways, and from 1974 he was the head of the Design Department. In 1977, he got a job at the Center for Research and Design, and with his merger with the Traffic Institute, he became its director.
He has also been the Vice President of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia since May 8, 2007. After the President of the Assembly Tomislav Nikolić resigned, Mrkonjić took over the presidency of the Assembly sessions as the oldest of the Vice Presidents, until the election of the new President Oliver Dulić on May 23, 2007. The Government of the Republic of Serbia was sworn in on May 15, 2007.
In the Government that was formed after the elections in May 2012, Milutin Mrkonjić performed the function of the Minister of Transport until the reconstruction, which was completed on September 2, 2013. He was replaced at that position by his party colleague Aleksandar Antić.
Milutin Mrka Mrkonjić’s wife is Dragana Daša Mrkonjić, who worked as a lawyer for years, and later as a judge. The two have been married for more than 30 years.
Since 2012, he has been in a relationship with the famous singer Ana Bekut.
