His party colleagues are saying goodbye to their prominent member, and his emotional partner, singer Ana Bekuta, with whom he spent the last years of his life, is also inconsolable.
It is interesting that Mrkonjić had a special wish related to his own funeral. Still faithful to the communist idea, he asked to be buried with a five-pointed star in a coffin.
In that light, the photograph of Mrkonjić from the period when he was in the JNA is especially interesting today. Mrka, like a young soldier, gives a speech, while the others in the hall listen to him carefully …
Milutin Mrkonjić was born on May 23, 1942 in Belgrade. He graduated in 1971 from the Faculty of Civil Engineering in Belgrade.

He led the renewal of Serbia in front of the Government of Serbia after the NATO bombing in 1999. In 2007, he became the Vice President of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia, and after the then President of the Assembly, Tomislav Nikolić, resigned, Mrkonjić took over the presidency of the sessions of the Assembly. The second government of Vojislav Kostunica was sworn in before Mrkonjic.
In the 2008 elections, he was the SPS candidate for the presidential election, but without much success. With the formation of the DS-SPS coalition in 2008, he was elected Minister of Infrastructure in the government of Mirko Cvetković. He got his second ministerial mandate in the government of Ivica Dačić when he became the Minister of Transport, and he was replaced by a party colleague after a year.
He was the honorary president of the SPS and the honorary doctor of science of Megatrend University.
