With the departure of the honorary president of the SPS, Milutin Mrkonjic, Serbia has lost a great man, builder and patriot, whose work was an inspiration for the entire nation, especially in the most difficult days, SPS vice president Aleksandar Antic said tonight.
In a written statement for Tanjug, he said that the Socialist Party of Serbia lost one of its founders, one of the greatest human greats and a source of inexhaustible energy.
He stressed that those who had the privilege of working with him had lost a great teacher, both in business and in life.
– It was especially a privilege to have a man like our Mrka as a friend. A great charmer, a symbol of a time, a father figure for all of us younger. We remain eternally obliged to him to realize his ideas and to build Serbia the best we can without rest – Antic stated in a statement.
Milutin Mrkonjić, former Minister of Infrastructure and Transport, honorary president of the SPS and member of that party in the Assembly of Serbia, passed away today at the age of 80 at the Institute for Cardiovascular Diseases “Dedinje”.
