His loyalty to Milosevic is also shown by the fact that, despite the fact that the SPS changed the rose on the logo with a star at the end of 2014, Mrkonjic still wore a badge with the old insignia. As he said, the change of the sign did not mean the change of ideology.
Mrkonjić made this statement in the office of Milošević’s secretary Mira Dragojević, who, after retiring, worked in the party administration, and in her free time arranged documents from The Hague. It was in that office that Milosevic’s huge picture and the rose badge were.
He is also known for his statement that Sloboan Milosevic is a “hero over heroes”.
– History will show that Milosevic was a hero, and it does not occur to me to distance myself from this attitude – said Milutin Mrkonjic in 2009 while he was the Minister of Infrastructure. He then added that Milosevic showed how he defends a part of his country and his people.
While Milosevic was in The Hague, Mrkonjic publicly protested the former president’s treatment in the detention unit.
– The attitude of the so-called International Criminal Tribunal in The Hague towards Slobodan Milosevic and other Serbian patriots is reflected in a drastic violation of their freedoms and rights prescribed by international conventions and other international acts on numerous grounds, and even through violations of the Tribunal’s own rules. .
According to him, no one tried to prevent the silent assassination of the former president of the Republic of Serbia and the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia.
By the way, Mrkonjic has been advocating for years for President Milosevic’s family to return to Serbia.
