ACCORDING to the data of the “Trampoline” Institute, in the past few weeks, the interest in the first dose of the kovid vaccine has increased, but, as they say, it is still insufficient to achieve a satisfactory level of immunization against the corona virus.
What is especially worrying is that the number of unvaccinated people over the age of 65 is almost 26 percent!
The first dose of the kovid vaccine was given to 1,079,837 people older than 65, the second to 1,058,682, and the third to only 685,063.
– If we managed to vaccinate the entire population, the number of immunized 74 percent among those over 65 would be an excellent result – says Dr. Zoran Bekić, director of DZ “Savski venac” and coordinator of the largest vaccination point in the country at the Belgrade Fair.
– So, the problem is not in the 26% of unvaccinated people among those in the seventh and eighth decade of life, but that we have completely failed in the immunization of younger people and children, so they continue to spread the virus, transmit it to their parents, grandparents.
Children in primary and secondary schools are a large reservoir of the corona virus and they transmit it en masse, while at the same time adhering to the measures most responsibly.
– In Serbia, only 57 percent of adult citizens have been vaccinated, while the number of children is negligible and amounts to about three percent – says Bekić.
The number of newly infected is falling
In Serbia, 1,674 new cases of corona have been confirmed since the last cut, out of 9,826 people tested. As a result of the corona virus infection, 51 people died. There are 4,277 covid patients on hospital treatment, of which 209 are on respirators.
