We remind you that he was confirmed in Austria, and President Aleksandar Vučić himself stated today that the question is when he will appear in our country as well.
– As for the appearance of omicron, if it is registered in Austria, it is a matter of days when it will be in our country as well. We have a significant drop in numbers compared to 7 days ago, and just when everything is getting better and better, we only needed that omicron – said President Vučić.
He added that he expects that in 5.6 months we will have a super vaccine and that we will solve all the problems, so that we will produce it in Serbia.
– Until then, let’s be as careful as possible. Vaccination is crucial. Nobody in the world knows anything about that new strain yet, as we know.
As soon as the news from the world about omicron arrived last week, the medical part of the Crisis Staff requested an emergency session.
The main topic will be the new strain, and the second item on the agenda will be the school holidays, which epidemiologists are asking to start on December 20.
Portugal became the last European country to confirm cases of a new strain of the corona virus, omicron. Potentially more contagious than earlier strains, the variant, first identified in South Africa, has spread to at least 15 other countries in the world, prompting several nations to step up control measures.
Prior to that, Switzerland, Denmark, the Netherlands, Austria, Germany, the Czech Republic, Italy, Great Britain and Belgium also announced that they had registered cases of a new strain.
In addition to European countries, the omicron strain has been confirmed in Australia, Botswana, Canada, Hong Kong and Israel.
The last session of the Crisis Staff was held on November 4. Then it was decided that kovid passes in catering facilities instead of 22 hours, are mandatory from 20.
