On Monday, the Prime Minister of Serbia, Ana Brnabić, visited the works on the reconstruction of Ovčar Banja, but also the entire area of the Ovčar-Kablar gorge, which was declared a landscape of exceptional features.
Currently, works are being carried out on the construction of a road to the lookout point on Kablar, and an amphitheater and a Nature Center are being built in the center of Ovčar Banja, so only this year about half a billion dinars will be invested in road and tourist infrastructure.
According to Prime Minister Brnabić, the gorge will become one of the leading tourist destinations in Serbia in the coming years, which will be contributed by the construction of the highway from Preljina to Požega, which will displace traffic from this protected area.
– The highway to Požega will completely displace the traffic, and the gorge will be returned to people and nature. The two projects are being worked on in parallel. When we let go of the road to Požega, what was done in the gorge will be presented. These two projects are connected through efficient and joint work of line ministries, local self-government and all institutions. Projects worth 185 million dinars have been realized and many things have been completed – the amphitheater, the port on Lake Medjuvrsje, the railway station. Another 500 million dinars will be budgeted, the Nature Center and the procurement of the ecological catamaran will be completed. The construction of a complete road to the lookout on Kablar will contribute to an even larger number of visitors, as well as the construction of a glass lookout that will be unique in Serbia. This is an exceptional landscape that we want to show to Europe and the world – said Prime Minister Ana Brnabić.
As Brnabić emphasized, a public procurement for the construction of the Croatian center in Ovčar Banja itself will be announced soon. Five million euros have been allocated for this project, ie for construction and equipment, and “its realization is crucial for the development of health tourism.”
– It is to be expected that Ovčar Banja, on 5,000 hectares of protected area with all monasteries, will be one of the most beautiful spa resorts and tourist attractions. Tourists will have at their disposal a trail for mountaineers and alpinists, a completely reconstructed railway station, a new square in Ovčar Banja, as well as the Natural History Museum. A lot will be invested in sports and recreation. In the next year, after the completion of the project for sewerage and water supply network, we expect four million for the investment. The approaches to the monasteries will also be arranged, the construction of the parking lot in front of the Annunciation Monastery is in progress, and that investment alone amounts to 14 million dinars. It is to be expected that over 55 million euros will be invested in projects in the next two years – said the mayor of Čačak, Milun Todorović.
