Today, SERBIA gets its 13th parliament since the introduction of multi-party system. At the constitutive session, which was convened by the outgoing President of the Assembly Ivica Dačić, first of all, the mandates of the new MPs will be confirmed, and on the agenda is the election of the president, vice president, members of the working bodies…
The SNS candidate for the President of the Assembly is Vladimir Orlić, while the new convocation will have two more vice-presidential seats, a total of seven, of which three are intended for the opposition.
They will also have five positions as heads of parliamentary committees.
According to the proposal that was refined during the consultations of the parliamentary parties, the vice-presidential positions will be “divided” by the SNS, SPS, SVM, SPP, SSP, DS and the NADA coalition.
Sandra Božić, Milenko Jovanov, Marina Raguš and Nevena Đurić are currently in the running for the vice-presidential position, which is followed by the progressives. The Socialists have not yet announced their candidate for the vice-president of the Assembly, and it is almost certain that Elvira Kovač will be the vice-president of the parliament on behalf of the Association of Vojvodina Hungarians, as in the previous convocation.
The club around the SSP will propose Borko Stefanović, NADA Božidar Delić, and DS together with the People’s Party, Ne davimo Beograd and Zajedno – Zoran Lutovac for the position of vice president.
The President of Serbia and the leader of the progressives, Aleksandar Vučić, said yesterday that the ruling party, which will have the largest number of deputies in the new convocation of the Assembly, has offered the opposition more places in the leadership of the parliament and committees than ever, which, he says, they themselves would admit are fair. emphasizing that this is important for the further development of democracy in Serbia.
– I spoke with Orlić, we offered more than anyone has ever given. If they were fair, they themselves would say that we were fair, and since they were not, they always have to say that the situation is bad – stated Vučić.
He said that all this is important for the further development of democracy in Serbia, and that he hopes that it will become a standard for the future, regardless of who will be in power.
– We are not doing this so that someone will praise us, but so that these are normal standards, and Serbia is a democratic country.
According to the Rules of Procedure, today’s constitutive session will be chaired by the oldest deputy, in this case Vladeta Janković, from the list “United for the Victory of Serbia”.
If he is unable or unwilling to do so, the session will be chaired by the next “in order of seniority”, Veroljub Stevanović from the NADA electoral list.
The oldest deputy is assisted in running the session by the four youngest deputies, with four top-ranked lists, this time Nikola Bokan from the electoral list “Aleksandar Vučić – Zajedno mozomo sve”, Pavle Grbović from the “United”, Dubravka Kralj from the SPS coalition and Jelena Bogdanović , HOPE. In addition to them, the Secretary General of the National Assembly also helps.
After confirming the mandate, the people’s deputies take an oath, and with that act the Assembly is considered constituted. Since then, the 90-day deadline for the formation of the government begins.

Odalović: All preparations for the new convocation have been successfully completed
The Secretary General of the outgoing Parliament, Veljko Odalović, tells “Novosti” that all administrative, technical and organizational preparations for today’s constitutive session, which is also his last working day in the House of the National Assembly, have been completed.
– In this mandate, the Parliament fulfilled all the expectations and all the tasks that were set before the leadership headed by Ivica Dačić. We have done several important things to create better conditions for the functioning of the parliament. The small hall is very well equipped for functional work, in the large hall the very damaged and decayed leather on the seats was replaced after dozens of years, and all according to the conditions prescribed by the supervision, which includes a representative of the Institute for the Protection of Cultural Monuments. I am also very proud of the fact that in this mandate, after several decades, we managed to replace the broken and damaged panels on the plateau of the House of Assembly.
Regarding his further political involvement, Odalović says that he does not know where his paths will take him at this moment, but that he will be at the disposal of his SPS and its president Dačić, as before.
– After all the years of working and cooperating with Dacic and all the challenges we went through together, I have no qualms that if he considers me part of his team, I will continue to be part of his team, wherever we take on the responsibility of exercising power. SSR
