AFTER 25 hours of discussion and only sixty seconds before entering the holiday of the Day of Serbian Unity, Freedom and the National Flag, in the Assembly of Serbia it turned out that it is difficult to achieve unity even on the most important national issue.
The parliamentarians had a “challenge” to show that, regardless of all political differences and personal animosities, Kosovo and Metohija are better than alienation. 148 out of a total of 250 people’s elected representatives “passed” the test in the republican parliament.
That many MPs, namely, on the night between Wednesday and Thursday, voted for the Report on negotiations with Pristina, which was “defended” by President Aleksandar Vučić for two days. “For” were representatives of the government – the team around the SNS, SPS-JS, SVM, SPP, and against “Ujedinjeni”, “Green Left Club”, DS, “We must together”, NADA, Narodna stranka, Dveri and Zavetnici.
Despite the fact that it is a document, which only lists the moves and results reached during the Brussels dialogue, the 51 pages of the report were for many people just a puzzle to show – a hundred differences. Instead of directing the sharp edge of criticism towards Pristina and Aljbin Kurti, who does not choose the means to make life miserable for the Serbs in Kosovo and Metohija, some opposition MPs used the presence of the head of state to deal with him. Thus, the central topic – negotiations on Kosovo and Metohija and the pressure of world powers to recognize Serbia as a fake state – fell into the background in certain parts of the session, because opposition members asked about Vučić’s apartment, the alleged election theft, mining rent, drinking water… Even the newly performed song about the “wandering baby” somehow strayed into the discussion about Kosovo, all from the mouth of the “soloist” Radomir Lazović.
Segments of the session in which the opposition members, according to their own assessment, “showed Vučić” were published on social networks with lightning speed. Even the representatives of the authorities did not miss the opportunity to “upload” counter-videos, so the “Kosovo battle” started on social networks.
President Vučić, summing up the two-day debate in the parliament, did not hide his disappointment that even on the issue of Kosovo and Metohija, unity could not be achieved:
– It is important that there is unity in the people. People have seen everything and that’s okay.
There were few MPs who rose above political differences and applied the “Pristina recipe”. Because, when the parliament is in session, the so-called None of the Albanian MPs in Kosovo doubt that they are citizens of an independent state. And in our country, for example, you could hear words like “the border crossing that Kosovo has with Serbia” from MPs from the ranks of “We are not drowning Belgrade”, from the PSG that the reality on the ground is different from various documents…
By the way, it was agreed at the session that in the future the parliament will have a greater role in the negotiation process, and in the following period it will be considered in what way. The Assembly has so far adopted 11 resolutions and declarations, as well as two platforms.
LAJČAK BANUO IN PRISTINA
The EU’s envoy for dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina, Miroslav Lajčak, arrived in Pristina unannounced yesterday, where he met with the Prime Minister of the temporary institutions, Aljbin Kurti. Spokesman of the so-called of the government in Pristina, Perparim Krieziu, announced on “Facebook” that Lajčak met with Kurti, stating that this was the reason why Kurti could not stay longer at the parliamentary session. The meeting was not announced in the media, and EU spokesman Peter Stano said that it was a working visit.
