Serbian Prime Minister Ana Brnabić, after the state funeral of former Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe in Tokyo and dinner with Japanese businessmen whose companies operate in Serbia, made a statement to the media.
– Today is a strange day, a day when we should celebrate the friendship between Serbia and Japan, because today is the 140th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Serbia and Japan. On this day in 1882, King Milan sent the first letter to the Japanese king, and this day is counted as the beginning of our diplomatic relations. It is a day for joy in that respect, but a sad day when the official funeral of former Prime Minister Shinzo Abe took place – the Prime Minister stressed.
The Prime Minister pointed out afterwards that Serbia does not forget its friends:
– That is why I attended the state funeral today as a high-ranking official. In 2018, Abe came to Serbia with a group of businessmen, and since then the number of investors from Japan in our country has increased. We don’t forget our friends, and Abe certainly was – she said.
The Prime Minister also said that she received an invitation to visit Singapore.
Let us remind you that Serbian Prime Minister Ana Brnabić attended the state funeral of former Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe in Tokyo today. The ceremony, at the Nippon Budokan arena in Tokyo, began around 2pm local time, when the urn containing Abe’s remains was brought into the hall.
After that, local time in Tokyo, she hosted a dinner for Japanese businessmen whose companies operate in Serbia.
The evening was attended by the president of “Toyo Tire Corporation” Takashi Shimizu, the president of “Yazaki Corporation” Riku Yazaki, and the president of the Board of Directors of “Japan Tobacco” Mutsuo Iwai.
– We are happy that the number of Japanese investors in Serbia is growing, especially in the last three years. Japanese investors are one of the most conservative, but once they come to a country, others follow them – she said on that occasion.
